It's been a little while since our last update because we had my parents, brother and niece in town visiting last weekend into the earlier part of this week (I am planning a post about our visit-- expect that soon)! We did check out the house, but today was the first day that it was still light enough out to take pictures while we were there. There has been a good amount of work done since we last checked in.
We are officially in the pre-drywall phase: probably the least exciting phase, right between framing and drywall. In this phase, the plumbing, electrical, HVAC and insulation are done on the inside and the roof is shingled on the outside. For more information about this phase, please see DSLD's informational Youtube video here.
Here's a photo of the outside of the house:
We're getting closer! As you can see, the windows are in and the edging on the roof has been done (I'm sure there's a real name for that, but I'm not savvy enough to know it.. haha). They are also starting to frame the house on the left of us and one of the houses across the street is on day 2 of framing.
This is a view of the house from the garage (second bathroom, third bedroom). As you can see, the plumbing has been installed. You can also see the hubs in there checking everything out.
We have a tub! This is the tub in the second bathroom.
Stand-up shower and tub have also gone in in the master bathroom. I think some really awesome bubble baths will be taken in that tub!
Plumbing in the kitchen island. I didn't want to go too overboard with the plumbing pictures because they're not super fun, but I had to share one close-up. :)
This is admittedly not the greatest picture, but the HVAC system has also been installed throughout the house. This is the central unit in the attic.
These are our electrical plans and lighting options that we chose during our design meeting. They are posted on our brand new windows! :) It's fun seeing our plans up.
Windows in the master bedroom. It was also still nice and cool in the house, despite today's hot and humid weather.
Our back door! Super exciting.
And here are our shingles: if the weather holds out tomorrow, these babies will be going up.
So as of right now, the plumbing looks pretty far along if not done, as does the HVAC. It looks like they started the electrical, but that still needs a few days worth of work and the roof needs to be shingled. Then, we will have municipal inspections before the walls are closed up and insulation is blown in. Next week, we will be moving onto the brick & drywall phase! I can't wait to see the bricks start going up! This is all starting to feel so real now!
That is all for tonight.. be on the lookout for the post I will have coming about my family's recent visit. Have a great night & thanks for stopping by!
