So many of you have commented on how quickly things are happening-- I know! We knew it would go fast but every day we are surprised when we pull up and see the day's progress. Remember, our closing date is in just over 2.5 months, so it WILL go very fast! DSLD is also known for their "assembly line" approach and have really nailed the process down and won all sorts of awards along the way.
Anyway, the reason you are here is to see progress-- and progress we have! We rolled up at just before 7pm and there was a huge team working still. They were just finishing up the roof decking and were starting to line the roof with the paper they use in between the decking and shingles. The house has been covered in paper and brick spacers on the outside walls, and you can tell we have a real house on our hands!
Look! It looks like a house! It's so funny how small it looks in this picture when I'm standing across the street. There were so many people working still.
Side view of our casa. On this side, at the back left corner will be our master bedroom, then our master bath, and then the third bedroom (which we've decided will be Mike's man cave for a while) and the garage. You can also see the slab of the house next door. Because of the way the road curves, we actually have a lot of space between us and the house next to us on the left.. so we lucked out there.
Steven, the DSLD realtor we're working with, also emailed us today to let us know a little more about the framing process. He let us know that framing should take about 7 days total, and we are already 4 days in! So next week, they will likely move onto the next step.
He also shared with us a video series that DSLD put together to guide homeowners during the building process. We didn't know that this existed until today, so we missed the one all about the slab. But if you're interested, if you go to the "DSLD Homes" Youtube channel, you can look for the first video in the series about slabs. We are already onto video 2, all about framing (below). Have a look if you are interested in what this process entails. I will do my best to remember to post the coordinating video as we begin each new phase of the process.
(For some reason, I can't embed the video directly to my page, so click here if you are interested in seeing their 3 minute clip about framing).
Hope you all are doing well and we'll talk to you tomorrow! :)
