Today is a very exciting day because I am finally ready to reveal baby Charlie's nursery! While he won't spend much time in here at first, I am so glad that it's all done and ready for him. Mike and I started working on his room really early-- right around the end of my first trimester-- and are so happy with the way it turned out. Of course, I don't think pictures really do it justice, but this will give you an idea of what we did!
This is the view of his nursery when you walk in the door. His cubby storage shelf is to the left, dresser is against the back wall (you can see the teeniest sliver of it) and crib is against the far wall. The adorable little toy box was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Barton-- G-pa Barton painted and decorated it just for Charlie (and there is a matching stool inside). The bouncer and swing were sweet gifts and will probably not live here once Charlie arrives, but they are here for now. Striped curtains are from Pottery Barn Kids and the sheer panels are from Amazon.
Speaking of cubby storage, here is his little toy storage area. The photo is sort of dark, but this book shelf houses all of his toys and some of his essentials. Shelf, baskets and lamp from Target. Most of the stuffed animals were sweet gifts. The sad dino on the right is Mike's littlefoot from when he was young and the little turtle footstool is mine from when I was young.
These paintings were actually the first things we bought for the nursery. We got them when Mike and I went down to New Orleans for the Southern Sociological meetings back in March. The top one says "trust your wings" and the bottom says "and then there were 3." We loved these sweet paintings so much that we knew we had to have them!
A close up of the adorable toy box from Mike's parents!
Standing in front of the closet, this is what you see. You can see the rest of his room with dresser, chair, book shelf full of books gifted to us by our amazing family and friends and his crib.
Here is his changing table/dresser (Hemnes from Ikea-- thanks to Mike's parents for picking it up and delivering it here!). The adorable dino prints are from Etsy, frames, shelves and changing pad cover are from Target, the basket is from Home Goods and the little dinos on the top shelf are from his CT baby shower. The chair is from Babies R Us and the blanket is from Nordstrom.
Anyone up for a little dresser tour? This is probably the neatest it will ever be, so I might as well show you now! The drawer on the left has pacis, random medical supplies (nose frida, thermometer), his Solly Baby wrap and an extra changing pad cover and breast pads. The next drawer has shoes, socks, mittens and bibs. The next has swaddles and burp cloths and the last has diapers and changing pad liners.
All of his little clothes are washed and ready to go! The drawer on the right is all newborn stuff-- mostly sleepers, and not too many-- including the ducky one on top that we bought for Riley when she was just born! The box next to it has more flannel type receiving blankets. The drawer on the left has 3-month items: sleepers, stretchy pants and onesies.
The bottom drawers are mostly taken up by blankets (the entire drawer on the right is all blankets, and half of the drawer on the left!) and breastfeeding supplies/accessories.
Above the chair are these shelves from Target with some of the dinos from his CT shower, his very first ultrasound picture and a print from Etsy.
Next to the chair is his book case. We already had this, along with the lamp, from Target when we first moved to Baton Rouge. I made the pendants using scrapbook paper and a wooden pendant set from Joann Fabric and the "let the world hear your roar" sign is from Etsy. The bin on the floor has all the cards and receipts from all of our friends and families' generous gifts, and that is also from Target. The Rock'n'play that we are borrowing from Matt and Molly is behind the crib for now.
An up-close of his bookshelf, stuffed with books from our amazing friends and family. The frog on the top was mine from when I was little, the bear is from Nordstrom (it came with the blanket). The little dino bank was a gift from his big cousin Riley, with his first dollar inside of it from her!
And here is his crib! The crib itself is from Babies R Us and converts into both a toddler and full-size bed (we already have the parts to transform it into both). I made his name banner from wooden letters and scrapbook paper. Bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids. The dino on the left is from Target (and matches his bank) and the bear was my very first stuffed animal when I was little!
This is one of our favorite things in his nursery. His mobile is from Etsy and is it not the cutest? People are so talented.
Last is his closet. I promise it's not nearly as hectic as it looks in the photo. The bookshelf holds diapers, nursing pillows and things he won't need until he's a little bit bigger. His stroller and car seat are in here too, along with the parts for his pack-n-play (where he'll be sleeping in our room). The clothes that are hung up on the left are his clean 0-3 month outfits, the ones in the back I haven't washed yet (because I am not sure we'll need them) and the ones in the organizer are for when he's bigger. You can see his little tub and tummy time mat, too!
Book shelf with diapers, nursing pillows and things for when he's a little older, and his bath stuff on the floor.
All of this dude's "nice clothes."
Some of his other bigger things (umbrella stroller, high chair, activity centers) are in the front bedroom closet. But that closet is a true disaster, so just trust me that they're there. :)
Thanks for coming on the tour with me! We are so excited to share this with all of you and we can't wait until he's here!
Totally awesome! What a great job. He's a blessed young fellow indeed. (((HUGS)))
