Hi everyone! So we are back on the regular blog for this post.. it was way too much hassle trying to password protect the other one. Maybe we've relaxed a little bit, or maybe we want to give our alarm company a workout. Either way, we figure it's just a lot easier to keep in touch by keeping it simple.
A few people have asked us to share our Christmas decorations, so that is what today's post is all about. You will also notice several changes/additions (a new lamp, new shelf, etc) from our previous post.
I love decorating for Christmas. I will admit, though, that decorating this year in a brand new (bigger) space was challenging. We didn't really want to spend too much money on decorations, so it took a lot of trial and error to figure out what was going where and how to make it all work in this new space. I really like how it came together and it feels very festive. So without further ado, here is our house, all dressed for Christmas!
Starting with the same angle as the last post, this is the overview of our space from the back corner of the kitchen by the refrigerator. I know it looks overwhelming, but it is less so in person.
Here's the angle from the front entryway.
The overview of the living room from behind the couch. You can see that we moved the "B" to the wall (it was on the entertainment center before, but it didn't really sit straight), and have a new basket for blankets/pillows underneath. Gram's village takes center stage on the entertainment center (our mantle).
The little table in the entryway is decorated with this cute little tree I found at TJ Maxx last year. Next year, I think maybe we'll fuss with it some more and put some lights on the tree.
Speaking of Gram's village, here are some up close shots. We love being able to display this in our home around the holidays.
Here is the book case in the living room (the entry way is to the right). The only decoration we bought for Christmas this year was the poinsettia wreath-- I am really enjoying having wreaths over the mirror! The little penguin on the case and the stocking draped over the pillow were Mike's from when he was little. It's nice to be able to have them out in our home!
This the opposite wall. The lamp is new from my last post of our living area.
We have our tree in between the living room and dining area.
The dining area. So that candle holder used to be a hurricane. We used it once at Thanksgiving, and the candle glued itself to the inside of the glass. Pottery Barn refused to take it back, and we cracked it trying to get the candle out. So, for now, it's holding that candle. One of the administrators in Mike's department quilted us this gorgeous centerpiece for our housewarming.
Since we have nowhere to hang our stockings, the new shelf in the back corner of the dining room will do. :)
Our buffet all decked out. The clear candle holders are gifts from Mike on our first Christmas together! :)
We also moved this sign above the door-- Mike's dad helped with that when they were in for Thanksgiving. The spot around the pantry door is perfect for hanging Christmas cards!
My handy husband also installed this blinds-in-glass panel on our back door. We really needed some privacy on the back door, and this was perfect.
Now for pictures of the outside! This was our first year putting up Christmas lights, and we kept it pretty simple. Mike and his dad hung up the lights the day after Thanksgiving.
Mike strung them so they hang down slightly in between, like a little gingerbread house! It looks better in person. :)
Our front door.
Well, that's all for this post! We are so happy to be able to share this with all of you. From our house to yours, merry Christmas!
