First Day of Construction!

Luckily, the storms held off and construction on our house began today!  After Mike got home from work, he came by, picked me up and we drove over to the lot to see the progress.  We were so surprised because when we drove into the neighborhood we could very easily see that there was a structure there (you can see our house from the street because there are no houses to block its view yet)!  It was nearly 6pm and the crew was still working, and we were very impressed!
You can clearly see the garage on the left and the entryway on the right in this picture.  The guy who looks like he is surfing on the house was awesome-- he just glided over the top of the house while we watched in amazement, thinking how quickly we would have fallen if we were up there!
We figured out that the diagonal pieces are support pieces while they are building the actual frame.  I bet by tomorrow they will not even be there!

They were starting to put the walls up on the left side by the time we left.

These pictures give you an idea of the progress they've made-- in just one day!  We bumped into the realtor on the way out, and he told us that in 5-7 days we would have a complete structure, and by tomorrow we will have walls.  They really are moving so, so fast.  As long as the weather is good tomorrow, I'll do another post to show you what they accomplish on day two.. cross your fingers for good weather!
